Frugal Friday: Pictures

If you are anything like me you probably take A LOT of pictures. Even with the ability to use digital camera's and put the pictures all on the computer, I still am a little old fashioned and absolutely love to put all my pictures in photo album and cover my walls in framed pictures. It can get really expensive though. So I discovered a few websites where I can upload all my photos and have them sent to my local Wallgreens or even to my house for less then it costs to take them to the store and leave them for a few days. This price goes down even more when all the sites have their deals around the holidays. In case you are interested here are a few of my favorites :)

Wii FIT!!!!

I recently got a membership with 24 hour fitness which I have not regretted for a second! I feel great after my workout and love being able to sit in the steam room or hot tub to relax after work. Last night...after a hard workout at the gym I came home and decided to work out some more. The Wii doesn't make you feel like thats what your doing...but when I finished I felt like I hadn't come home yet. The personal trainer's on the game talk to you and keep you motivated during the games...trying to make you beat your last score. As ridiculous as I feel moving my hips to a hula hoop that isn't their I find myself laughing my head off and getting a great work out at the same time :)

American Idol...

So, I missed the first few seasons of American Idol but when I got hooked, I really got hooked. It was so amazing to me how people who were just like me were discovered and given the chance to fulfill their dreams. Somehow though, it seems like the judges aren't necessarily judging the quality or tone of the voice so much as they are how likable the person is. Of course this is a really important aspect of someone to be a role model in our country...if their voice isn't that great but their personality is...does that give them a place in the top 12 of the show? Last night two people were eliminated from the show. Jasmine Murray and Jorge Nunez. Sadly...while their performance could have been better...as it always could...two finalists with some of the best vocal quality and potential were eliminated and others with "quirky personalities" and "a current attitude" were saved till next week. Now America is the deciding factor...but the judges do sway our decisions don't they?
Do you think that to an extent personality has over taken vocal ability on the show?

Childhood dreams...

When I was around five years old I made up my mind that I wanted to be a doctor. It started out with wanting to be a surgeon, then made its way all the way up till being a counselor. I realized I wasn't right for the surgical arena when I passed out three times at the sight of a little cut on my finger. Why a doctor? I have always wanted to help people, and I view medicine as an incredibly fascinating study. I used to go to the library and check out all the child books on medicine and biology and even before I could read everything they said I would stare at the pictures. By the time I was 8 I had worked really hard to memorize all the bones and muscles of the body. Of course by now, not much of that remains in my head. Still...I can't fight the interest in medical procedures and the process of coming to a diagnosis of a patient. I get easily caught up in the medical shows on TV...not only because of all the drama involved. Recently I began working in the medical records department at a doctors office. I figure if I can't be the doctor at least I can observe them and learn as much as I can about the workings of the medical field. Plus...I get to wear scrubs. :)
